Woman, 54, Arrested For Recruiting Self Into Nigeria Police

  A 54-year old woman, Mrs. Christiana Otukogbe, who reportedly recruited herself into the Nigeria Police Force and operated in that capacity over the years, has finally been arrested for impersonation in Lagos State. Golden Times reports that the suspect, Christiana Otukogbe, was arrested by the Police at Ipaja Division.  The woman, Christiana ran into trouble after the Police went to Maborukose Street in Ipaja to arrest a criminal suspect, Samson Francis, who is the grandchild to Mrs. Christiana and she aided his escape as she obstructed the Police from performing their duty.  When the information got to the DPO, CSP Tokumbo Aboniwonda, she directed Christiana to meet with her in order to know why she would obstruct officers on duty whereas she was a Police woman. Emir of Kano Asked Us To Delay Fully Boarded Aircraft for One Hour, Air Peace Denies Disrespect

The airline has said, contrary to the claim by the Emir's cousin, Air Peace did everything to protect the Emir's image. The management of Air Peace has rejected claims that the airline treated the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, with disrespect. The carrier, in a statement signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Toyin Olajide, claimed that the company protected the emir's image by refusing to delay the flight he was scheduled to board. The Emir’s cousin, Prince Isa Bayero, had written a letter to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) demanding punitive measures be taken against Air Peace over what he described as “disrespect” to the Emir and people of Kano. The Emir’s cousin was reported to have placed a call to the Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, pleading for the delay of the airline's morning flight to Kano. Man Nabbed For Allegedly Attempting To 'lure' Three Children Selling Sachet Water In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Vigilante Service has apprehended a man, Ebere Nwosu for allegedly attempting to abduct three minors along the popular Tombia-Etegwe roundabout axis of the state capital, Yenagoa. The 49-year-old suspect was apprehended at about 5 pm on Monday, February 21, after operatives of the vigilante service closely observed his "unusual" interaction with the minors who were hawking sachet water.  The operatives stationed at Tombia roundabout noticed that the suspect was engaging the minors; Rejoice Efe, 11, and Success Obaru; 12, from Delta State, conversation and making several phone calls to an unknown person.   Unknown gunmen have killed Mr. Sule Mathew, a first-class graduate of Communication and former intern with PRNigeria while travelling to Anambra State with other passengers.   The 36-year-old mother of four, Mrs Opeyemi Omoyemi, who brutalised and inflicted bodily injuries on her 12-year-old houseboy, Joel Sunday, in Ondo State, for stealing meat has been sentenced to four and half years imprisonment with hard labour. While she got three and a half years imprisonment for causing grievous harm, she also bagged one-year imprisonment on violence against another person among others. Polytechnic Student Die Mysteriously In Ekiti

The decomposing body of a young man has been found in his room at Feyinfolu street, behind Delight  Hotel Ado Ekiti. The death of the polytechnic undergraduate had remained a mystery as no one could ascertain how he died. Even his neighbours and landlord could not give any reasonable information about his death. According to information gathered by Golden Times, his mother who lived in Ise-Ekiti came to visit him after she called his lines many times without response only to find her son on the floor in a pool of blood but with a scary appearance. His body and eyeballs had swollen while his flesh was peeling. Many residents suspected that he might have been attacked by ghosts while engaging in money rituals. This is because the two phones recovered in his coupled with other valuables in the room appeared too expensive and luxurious for an undergraduate of his status. As of the time of this report, the remains of the deceased had been evacuated by concerned authorities.

  A first-year female student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun state, has died after accidentally falling inside a soakaway in one of the school's hostels.   This was made known in a statement issued by the students’ union president of the school, Ogunperi Taofeek Olalekan. According to the statement, the deceased, Heritage Ajibola, was a student of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages. The unfortunate incident was said to have occurred at Beaver Hostel, Maintenance Hostels on Wednesday afternoon. Reps Propose 7 Years Jail Term, N500m Fine For Politicians Seeking Treatment Abroad

  The House of Representatives has proposed seven years jail term and an N500 million fine for any public officer of the government of the federation or any part thereof, for seeking undue medical check-ups or treatment abroad. The proposal is contained in a Bill for an Act to amend the National Health Act, 2014 which scaled through second reading in the Green Chamber at plenary on Wednesday. Sponsored by Sergius Ogun, from Edo State, the proposed legislation seeks to amend the Principal Act (National Health Act, 2014) to make provision for sanctions against any public officer who violates the provisions of the law, especially Section 46.
